After a run of three consecutive games, it was time for Kampong to go out and travel, the first of which was VVV in Amsterdam.
Kampong welcomed back Sean, Ben, Bhavik to the lineup, and Aryan made is first, much awaited appearance of the season. Kampong lost the toss and were put in to field.
With an all new bowling lineup, Sean and Aryan started off very well, using the new ball to great effect and conceding hardly any runs. Aryan, back to his guiles, reaped the benefits of their joint hardwork, and got 2 wickets. Camille was introduced after Sean, and carried on his good form, bowling tight and along with Shaun on the other end, picking up wickets at regular intervals. Camille ended up with 4 wickets. Ben was up to his usual one-fantastic-catch-per-game antics and Aryan effected a run out.
Adrian started off well with the bat, but Karel was hugely unfortunate to get out cheaply. Shaun came in and along with Adrian, started off making short work of the modest 89 run target. But after the departure of both, and Bhavik and Diederik falling cheaply too, Kampong were bent on making a match of it. Ben had no such ideas of course, and along with a steady Pieter Mees, got to the target in a calm fashion.
A very good win indeed to build up some momentum for the next few away games.
Diederik played his last game for Kampong CC this season, and what an invaluable contribution he has made on the field and off it. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for being available for such an extended period and for the great moments.
(Play-offs are around the corner, so keep them in mind Mr.Mars!)
On a different note. Something incomprehensible happened and finally, the in-famous no.11 wore the TFC t-shirt. An historic event indeed.
Bhavik was the recipient of the village idiot hat for the agricultural hack off a shot, Karel the proud owner of the Duck and Camille with the gorgeous man of the match tshirt.
Signing off,
Saurabh
